Support beyond the diagnosis
The Grey Area was founded by Oscar and Melissa DaCosta following Oscar’s journey with brain cancer. Through their personal experience, they saw the urgent need for greater support and advocacy for individuals and families facing severe neurological conditions in the Cayman Islands.
Today, The Grey Area is dedicated to providing compassionate support, raising awareness, and advocating for better care and resources for those living with neurological disease — ensuring no family faces the journey alone.

Fundraising
Providing direct financial support for families in need, including off-island treatment travel, medication co-pays, adjunct therapies, and essential equipment not covered or supplied by hospitals.
Awareness & Education
Creating accessible resources, school outreach, and community events that raise understanding of neurological conditions and help break the stigma surrounding brain illness and seizures.
Support
Offering peer support, caregiver check-ins, guidance through our Clinical Advisory Board, Professional directory and a compassionate community of people who understand the realities of neurological illness — because they’ve lived it too.

We don’t replace doctors or hospitals — we stand alongside them. We help with the calls, the paperwork, the airport runs, the meals, and the moments families are too overwhelmed to manage alone. Because often, the smallest acts of support make the biggest difference.
